Lifestyle changes towards Natural Solutions After Cancer
When my husband was
diagnosed with cancer in September 2017 I have to make radical changes to our lifestyle
so that he would have a speedy recovery.
He was diagnosed with CD20 negative diffuse, aggressive peripheral
B-cell lymphoma (Non-germinal centre subset) with high BC:-2 and C-myc (60
-70%) double expression. I do not even know what this means. He had 6 cycles of CHOP chemo therapy. After
this chemo therapy two active tumours were present at his para-oesophageal and
left para-aortic nodes. Going natural is
not easy, so I start in phases. I am
sharing some of this things I do:
1. Cleaning out my kitchen,
floors and bathrooms
Swap out dangerous
chemical cleaning agents for more natural cleaners. I use Dr. Bronners castile liquid soap and
suds. I add a few drops of Doterra
essential oils like Onguard, Lemon or wild orange to the castile soap and suds.
2. Laundry
detergent
Swap out the regular
laundry detergent with Dr. Bronners suds and make my own detergent.
What You Need
1 cup Dr. Bronner's pure castile liquid soap
1 cup baking soda
2 cups water
1/3 cup salt
3. Go for glass
Lessen your dependence on
plastic containers. Invest in glass jars and food savers that are safer, and
more cost-effective in the long run.
I stop using tinfoils.
4. Eat smarter
I stop buying processed
foods, no milk, no sugar, and no white flour.
As much as possible we buy organic food.
We do not eat out much and no fast food.
For snacks I stock up on nuts, almonds, pistachios and brazil nuts. My husband likes to snack on potato chips and
peanuts so I start making my own chips from scratch, potatoes, sweet potatoes
and yam.
5. Exercise and Therapies
My husband swims every day
before he was ill. Now, as he regain his
strength he started physio at the St. Andrew Day Rehabilitation Centre.
He has regular weekly
Craniosacral Therapy, Functional Integration Therapy, and many others.
7. Unplug at home
I am very stringent in not
allowing any electronic gadgets in the bedroom.
All these will have to be removed during bedtime. Even the TV is unplugged at night.
8. Cut out chemicals in
toiletries
We started using organic soaps,
shampoos and toothpaste.
