I love my work. I am thoroughly grateful to witness the dance
between mother and baby in-utero making heart to heart connection. This afternoon I was facilitating a 7month
pregnant woman who was stressed and anxious around the birth of her
daughter.
With pre- and perinatal psychologists reporting that the most
important time for human development be it physical, mental and emotional is
the nine months in the womb, therefore mum and baby needs to feel safe
in preparation for birth. Mother needs
to feel that she has the cooperation of her baby for a smoother birth. Baby needs to feel safe and that she can
count on mother to be safe and supportive for her birth. It
is important for mother to bond with her baby during pregnancy as the bond
between a mother and her baby will influence the baby’s future growth and
development. A stronger bond between a
mother and baby is associated with better development outcomes later in life.
We work around having more awareness of
presence in mum’s body, her breathing and how she perceives being relax in her
body. We work around her breath, her
heartbeat, connecting her heartbeat to her breath, and connecting her heartbeat
to baby’s heartbeat. All rhythms
connecting and beating as one. The clarity of their bond unfolds and flows
beautifully………I am just a witness!
P.S.
Babies feel the mother’s feelings
and hear every sound around her. So make the best use of your pregnancy days to
bond with your baby. This would further
strengthen your bond with her after she is born.
